General

Guests are welcome to check in from 2pm on the day of arrival. Check out time is 10am on the day of departure. 

Should you have an early arrival and prefer immediate access to your room, we recommend booking for one night prior. Similarly, for late departures, reserving an additional night will guarantee access to your room until you leave the hotel. If you choose not to reserve the extra night, we will be happy to store your bags while you enjoy the public areas.  Change room and shower facilities are available in our spa.

Sala Beach accepts all major credit cards, including American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Diners Club.

Sala Beach House requires all rooms reservations to be prepaid.  Should this not happen guests are required to provide a valid credit or debit card on check in.  The hotel will pre-authorise your card for your full room rate (unless the room rate is paid in advance) as well as a daily allowance to cover any charges incurred during your stay.  Payment for these additional charges may still be made in cash, on checkout, should you prefer.

Children over the age of 12 years old are welcome at Sala Beach House.  Families with children of all ages are welcome to reserve our exclusive use 3 bedroomed Villa.

Due it it’s size Sala Beach House does not accept pets.

With hot, humid summers and dry, mild winters, KwaZulu-Natal offers warmth and sunshine most of the year. 

Whales visit the KwaZulu Natal coastline every year from as early at mid-May until the end of November.  They travel up to their breeding grounds off the coast of Mozambique before turning back and retracting their route back to Antarctica.

Sala Beach House offers an ideal location for an intimate beach wedding on the KwaZulu Natal north coast, for up to 50 guests.  Guests are required to take exclusive use of all 10 rooms of the hotel for at least 2 nights.

Location

Sala Beach House is situated at 75 Ocean Drive, Shaka’s Rock, KwaZulu Natal in the Republic of South Africa.  Shaka’s Rock is a suburb of Ballito which is 40 minutes north of Durban and 20 minutes from King Shaka International Airport.  Sala Beach House has direct beach access to Thompsons Bay.

King Shaka International Airport is an easy 20 minutes’ drive from Sala Beach House, offering domestic, regional and international flights.

Services and Facilities

Yes, Sala Beach Spa has three treatments rooms and a sauna.  Professionally trained therapists offer body and facial treatments with products from QMS Medicosmetics and Terres d’Afrique.

Sala beach house has 3 pools for guests to swim in.  With direct beach access guests may also swim in the ocean and the tidal pool at Thompsons Bay. Both are guarded by lifeguards.

Day visitors are welcome to visit Sala Beach Spa or to dine at Sala beach House by reservation only.  A limited number of tables are made available depending on the occupancy level of the house.  Please note that photography is not allowed by day visitors.  Children over the age of 12 are welcome.

Our food and beverage team will happily assist with your dietary requests, where possible. Please advise of any special requirements when making your reservation.

Our team will happily arrange transfers to the airport or for any other destinations that you would like to go to.

Complimentary high speed WIFI is available through the hotel

Guests are welcome to park in our secure open-air parking area.

The Area

Sala Beach House has direct access to the beach at Thompsons Bay.  There are several Ballito beaches to walk to.  Nearby is the Ballito promenade which offers a wooden walkway past the various beaches.

Holla Trails, at Sugar Rush Park, offers over 375 km of riding and running trails.  They have mountain bikes for hire and a café that serves great coffee and brunches.

A variety of chain and personal gyms are available in the nearby area. From Virgin and Fit24 to Hiitman and more specialised facilities.  Please let us now if you need information for your specific fitness needs.
