This past June, Sala Beach House was proud to host two exclusive wine and food pairing evenings that brought together discerning palates, coastal elegance, and the art of storytelling through flavour.
On 4 June, the iconic Klein Constantia estate graced our oceanfront terrace with a tasting journey steeped in heritage. Guests savoured four of the estate’s celebrated cool-climate wines, from the crisp Blanc de Blanc 2020 to the velvety Estate Red Blend 2021, each paired with a finely tuned dish by Executive Chef Shanal Ramroop. From burrata macarons to truffle-laced short rib, it was an evening of refined indulgence and quiet grandeur.
Then on 27 June, we turned the tide with Blankbottle, one of South Africa’s most avant-garde wineries. Surfing champion and charismatic winemaker Pieter Walser led guests on an unconventional, deeply personal exploration of five remarkable wines—each with a curious name and a compelling backstory. The pairings were equally bold: from smoked salmon with saffron-truffle clouds to lamb with lavender parsnip whip, every course was a conversation.
Both evenings reflected what Sala does best: curating experiences that are as layered and soulful as the views over Thompsons Bay. Stay tuned for more unique culinary encounters where wine, waves and creativity converge.
